Choosing the right foundation for your skin tone can make all the difference to your overall look – and how you turn out in photos.
Here are our tips for choosing the right foundation for you:
- Test the shade. It should go without saying, but the first thing you need to do is test the shade of the foundation on your skin. Try the foundation either on the back of your hand or the side of your face, near to your jawline. Make sure you’re not wearing any foundation as you’ll need to be testing the foundation against your natural skin tone. If the foundation disappears, this is the right shade for you.
- Know your skin type. Different skin types are better suited to different types of foundation. For example, if you have dry skin you’ll want to choose a hydrating or moisturizing foundation. If your skin is oily, you should opt for a mattifying foundation.
- Decide what kind of coverage you want. Different types of foundation offer varying degrees of coverage. If you’re just wanting something subtle, you might be best with a tinted moisturizer.
- Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to ask the shop assistant to help you choose the right foundation for you. Don’t take what she says as law though – only make the purchase if you’re happy and comfortable.
